"This Is Your Life" Party

Celebrate the life of your guest of honor by remembering her special times and stories! This theme gives you a chance to show your guest of honor how dearly loved she is by recalling her favorite memories and sharing in the things that bring joy to her life. Here are a few suggestions to get you started:

• Brainstorm fun costume ideas for the guests: For instance, was your Mother-to-Be born in the 80s? or the 90s? Think about having the guests dress in fashions from the time she was born! Or, if the Bride-to-Be is marrying her high school sweetheart, have guests dress in fashions that were popular during her high school years. One of my favorite ideas is to have people come dressed as the guest of honor. You get the idea!
  
• Decorate with special items from her life: Did she grow up with a special cookie jar? Use it as a centerpiece. Or bring her favorite baby blanket out of storage and use it as a table cloth on the gift table. If she loves quilting, create a quilt-themed décor, if she’s crazy about daisies, sprinkle them liberally throughout the room.
  
• Hang a banner with the guest of honor’s name on it and have guests write funny – that’s funny, please don’t write anything cruel or humiliating - stories about the guest of honor on the banner. Read the stories during the party.
  
• Prepare a video of family and friends sharing stories about the guest of honor and play the video during the shower. Or, if you’re talented with PowerPoint, have family and friends send photographs featuring the guest of honor and create a personalized slide show. Prepare a narration you can read during the slide show.
  
• Create a memory book: Have guests bring snapshots and other memorabilia and create a scrapbook page during the party. Most craft stores sell scrapbook kits that include the cover and pages. Don’t forget to buy or collect some pretty papers, markers, glue on rhinestones, buttons, and other accessories guests can use to decorate the pages.
  
• Get to know your guest of honor better: Create questions about the guest of honor for guests to try an answer. Award prizes to the guests who get the most answers right. Pre-made kits for this game are also available from BadaBadaBINGO.com in Bride-to-Be and Mother-to-Be versions.

You’ll have plenty of laughs, entertainment, and maybe even a few heartfelt tears, when precious memories take center stage at your shower!
