Last month Susan "The Shower Diva" hosted a Baby Sprinkle for CBS KOIN 6 Anchor Jenny Hansson. This month, we show you how to recreate this lively theme at your next Baby Sprinkle!
What is a Baby Sprinkle you ask? It's the perfect solution for a Mother-to-Be who is having her 2nd, 3rd, or subsequent baby. Traditionally, a baby shower was intended to supply young parents with necessities when their first baby arrived. Showers were not necessarily thrown for subsequent births. Today, families want to celebrate the birth of all their children, making Baby Sprinkles one of the hottest trends in Baby Showers!
Don't be fooled! Some people think a Baby Sprinkle is a smaller celebration, but nothing could be further from the truth! The arrival of every baby is a big event worthy of celebration. Baby Sprinkles are special occasions that celebrate the expected baby and Mother-to-Be, but acts as a cue to guests that this mother doesn't need big-ticket items like furniture. Consumables for babies, such as disposable diapers and wipes, are the types of gifts appreciated and the focus of the Baby Sprinkle is honoring Mother, family, and new baby.
Put your guests in a party mood from the moment they open their invitation. Susan "The Shower Diva" created this Colorful Swirly Bird Baby Sprinkle invitation in honor of Jenny's Baby Sprinkle. BadaBadaBingo is making this fun design available to the public so you can purchase similar invitations and customize the wording for your own event.
Or, if you are throwing a Baby Sprinkle with a different theme, adapt the wording only:
You're a special invited guest so please do show. It's not her first baby, but her second, you know.
It's a special celebration; a fun time indeed–a Baby Sprinkle for <Guest of Honor's name>– so what will she need?
Mostly diapers and wipes and replenishable things. She has most of her needs from her first baby showers. It's a wonderful time to put the focus on <Guest of Honor's first name>. She could probably use gifts of personal hours!
A Baby Sprinkle does not mean a shower is small. It's a clue to each guest that Mom has mostly all. So please come with items that help Mom get through...Days one through days two hundred and twenty-two!
Most of all we look forward to your company...As your friendship means so much to <Guest of Honor's first name> and family.

For Jenny's Baby Sprinkle, we seeded Pandora with some light music and let the computer be our D.J. That way we could concentrate on having a great time!
Brightly-hued decorations inspired by nature are perfect for Colorful Swirly Bird Theme. Purchase or borrow decorative nests and bird houses to decorate the party space. Group clear vases of flowers and candles using a few larger blooms instead of bouquets of smaller flowers–you'll end up with a more striking presentation.
![]() Perk up your party space with brightly colored Gerbera daisies, raffia nests in glass containers, and lots of candles. |
![]() Tuck nests with colorful eggs or birds around the room. Pair the nests with candles for an elegant, festive look. |
![]() More daisies and jelly bean "eggs" in tiny glass "nests" brighten any corner. |
![]() Use a variety of candle sizes to create drama in the party space. |
Choose a few–or all–of the activities we made available at Jenny's shower to entertain your Baby Sprinkle guests.
Play Bun in the Oven Pull-Tab Surprise Game and Mommy's Big Belly PartyScratchers. Both of these games are fast to play and feature hilarious graphics that will have everyone laughing. They are especially good as icebreakers.
Play Baby Bingo. Bingo continues to be one of the most popular shower games. It's easy, it's fun, and it raises the energy level of your party. Alternately, you could play Pin the Pacifier on the Baby. Like Bingo, it's a Baby Shower themed twist on a classic game that helps encourage a sense of playfulness at your Baby Sprinkle and is especially fun for big brothers and big sisters to play!
Play "The Nest Game." Brand new from BadaBadaBingo <link to new game> and designed especially to coordinate with Jenny's Colorful Swirly Bird Baby Sprinkle, this game is easy to play and will match your decor. Each guest receives a small jar stuffed with raffia. One guest will find a baby inside their nest. The rest will receive jelly beans. Award that guest a prize!
Hire a massage therapist. The ultimate in Baby Sprinkle luxury is a spa corner hosted by a Licensed Massage Therapist. We had Erin Beauchamp from Lunar Massage at Jenny's Baby Sprinkle and the spa station was the first activity guests gravitated toward. For professional tips and ideas for including a massage therapist at your next shower, read Claire Stucklen's article from September '09.
Colorful Swirly Bird Hand and Body Lotion
prizes that match this theme are available from BadaBadaBingo Fun Games Co! LLC. They even say, "Congratulations! You are a winner!" Option to personalize is available.
Colorful bath salts in pretty bottles make an elegant, yet practical favor. Choose an assortment of colors and place them in a pretty wicker basket near the door. Your presentation will echo the bright botanicals in your party space and your favors will be right at hand when you're bidding farewell to your guests.
Thank friends who helped organize and host the shower (and the massage therapist and/or other vendors), by sending them home with colorful daisies from your decor in addition to the regular favor. Too often we forget to thank everyone who lends a hand during the planning, preparing, decorating and cooking–yet we want all our friends to know how much we appreciate their help! It's a good idea to make a list of everyone who pitches in and make sure you have enough flowers to go around. Your thoughtfulness will be remembered the next time you call on your friends to assist you in hosting a party.
Set up a colorful buffet with a balanced variety of tasty treats and beverages. Browse our favorite recipes or call in your favorite local caterer.
![]() Vegetable platters and cups of nuts add some healthful color and crunch to your menu. |
![]() Tea sandwiches shaped with cookie cutters worked really well with our theme and are an elegant shower classic. |
![]() Don't forget to bring your party theme to the table with coordinating napkin ties, table decor, and platter garnishes. |
![]() An attractive cheese plate offers a bit of protein without being too heavy. Read Christopher Hayes' article, The Cheese Plate Done Naturally for some great hints on cheese pairing. |
![]() Fondue is hugely popular again. Fill the fondue pot with chocolate and offer fruits, cake bites and pretzels for dipping. |
![]() Women love to gather in the kitchen–use this tendency to your advantage by setting up the drink station in the kitchen and introducing guests to each other as they arrive for a beverage. Soon, everyone will be visiting. |
![]() Cookies are a favorite for the dessert buffet. Fill a basket with Chatty Cookies or bake some Chocolate Chunk Peanut Butter Cookies– either way, it's a conversation starter! |
![]() Cupcakes are one of the hottest trends around, especially if they come from Saint Cupcake. Fortunately for us all, they deliver nationwide! |
![]() A variety of beverages: coffee, tea, water, Preggatinis™, juice and a selection of wines offers everyone something they will enjoy. |
Baby Sprinkles are a wonderful occasion for family and friends to gather in celebration of the impending arrival of subsequent babies and fete the Mother-to-Be. If you have a dear friend expecting her 2nd (or 3rd, or 4th...) baby, pick a theme and start planning a Baby Sprinkle!
